Love isn’t necessarily about a specific person; it’s an attitude, a way of being, a character orientation that defines how we relate to the world as a whole—not just to a single "object" of love.If someone loves only one person while being indifferent to others, that’s not love—it’s a form of symbiotic attachment or an exaggerated form of egoism.— Erich Fromm, The Art of Loving
For me, love is an infinite source of energy. Love for myself (I’m learning to embrace myself unconditionally), for the opposite sex, for children, for animals, for life, for the entire world—it all fills us up, literally nourishes us, like plugging into a power source. It’s the very first step toward joy.
The more we expand our ability to love, the more we expand the vessel of joy within us. We just need to keep refilling it and sharing it with our universe. And it’s so easy to do when we see the world through loving eyes
